The room was huge and airy and had a modern design. Extra facilities such as coffee and tea making equipment, and refrigerators were really useful. Remote location right by the Lake District and the coast, it was in a nice enough area.

The hotel's b&b facility has, I believe, only recently opened. Nevertheless, the attention of the staff and obvious quality of the rooms suggest it will be a popular addition to the local hotel business. Despite the 'country mansion' appearance and decor, we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable in our walking/fishing gear. A very good breakfast too!
The Bar is clearly a fairly new facility. If this feature (and the food- serving times) could be enhanced a little, I am sure that many of the guests who appeared for breakfast during our stay could be persuaded to spend more time in the bar in the evenings - rather than seeking alternatives. We enjoyed it though!

Lovely location, lovely people, lovely room with the little nice touches so often missing from hotels that should know better. I wish I could have stayed longer to relax and unwind. Highly recommended
Nothing serious - both my colleague and another guest noticed that the emergency lighting in the room has a ghostly bright green light which is unnerving - but the manager knows and will sort out (everything is new, so it's just a minor snag!).
